This is a HUGE framed fish. It is a fabulous Diplomystus dentatus from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This type is very sought-after because of its aesthetic, sleek look. This fossil was found in the ''18 Inch Layer'' of the Green River Formation, a layer where the fossils have wonderful detail and great dark color. The fossils from this layer need to be extracted under a microscope to reveal all the detail. This beautiful specimen is extremely large (almost 20 inches long!) and has incredible detail preserved, better than most of this type. And the fish is well centered in the unbroken, rectangular plate of oilshale This is a very impressive and displayable fossil fish that has been professionally framed for optimal display.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
