Here is a beautiful example of a rare trilobite. This is a Cyrtometopus sp. trilobite from the Devonian of Morocco. This trilobite was prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This trilobite exhibits excellent detail - the genal spines, pleural spines, and tailspines have all been prepared in a free-standing manner. There are also two distinct "Devil's Horns" spines protruding from the front of the cephalon that have been prepared free of matrix. The underside of the bug has also been cleaned, exposing the huge hypostoma (mouthplate). The strange trilobite is very 3-dimensionally preserved and very nicely articulated, which is unusual for this type. The fossil is beautifully showcased on a large, sculpted plate of crinoidal limestone. This is probably the most displayable specimen of this unusual Cheirurid trilobite we have ever seen.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
