Specimen SS1090

This is a beautiful plate of two Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry (WRQ) near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles D. Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! Both specimens on the plate have their free cheeks and eyes intact, which is quite unusual. The trilobites have excellent detail preserved, showcasing the thick shell exoskeletons well. The bugs are very well displayed on the large limestone plate, which also has a third Ceraurus preserved at the tail of a larger one - fully natural, no compositing! Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a piece like this is. This is an extremely collectible,  top quality double example of classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobites from New York State.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
